Riken Perfumery was established in 1952 with RIKEN, the institute of physical and Chemical Research as its parent organization. The purpose of the company’s establishment was to produce flavors from higher alcohols, the by-products of the production of a synthetic sake called “Rikyu”, which was invented by Dr. Umetaro Suzuki. This was followed by the successful development of gas odorants and other products.
The company’s headquarters is located in Shiba, Minato-ku, Tokyo, with Business management and Sales departments. We also have Osaka Branch, manufacturing plants both in Haneda, Tokyo, and Kikugawa, Shizuoka, and R & D in Haneda, Tokyo.
While, the company’s Chinese subsidiary, Riken Asia Flavors (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., was established in 2012 in Fengxian District, Shanghai, China, to strengthen sales to overseas customers.
Riken Perfumery Group’s are approximately 170 employees working diligently every day in research & development, manufacture, and sales.

#01Food flavors
Our food flavor products are used in a wide range of foods, including bakeries, baked goods, sugar confectionery, ice creams, and margarines.
#02Gas odorants
We manufacture gas odorants for detecting gas leakage of city gas and LP gas and supply not only to Japan but also to various Asian countries.
#03Deodorizers, etc.
We also manufacture deodorizers for household and industrial use, and develop attractants for cockroaches and other pests, as well as repellents for mosquitoes, flies, and other insects.
